To know the difference between different type of sugars is essential to make remarkable changes in one’s eating patterns! People avoid lots of fruits owing to the sugar content in them but the reality is a lot more different. Read on.
Glucose 2. Fructose 3. Sucrose
The above three are the different categorizations of what a layman calls Sugar!
Glucose is found in all foods we eat like roti, rice, vegetables, fruits , etc. It is the most basic form of sugar.
Fructose is a little complex form of sugar than glucose and needs to be processed by our liver before it gets converted into energy which our body needs.
Sucrose is a combination of glucose and fructose and the most common form of it is table sugar. The glucose in it gets converted into energy while the sucrose gets converted to fat.
Basics done now the real story begins!
When we consume natural forms of sugar via fruits and vegetables, we are also consuming the fibers, vitamins and proteins along with them. Now the digestive process is slower and our body takes time to convert everything into energy.
When we consume a sugar laden candy or syrups and sweeteners they get easily digested by the body leading to a sugar spike! The liver quickly gets tired processing this amount of sugar and converts the rest into fat. These sugars get metabolized quickly and you are hungry again leading you to eat more. A direct relation to obesity.
Moral – Natural sources of sugar are a package of antioxidants, fiber and vitamins which work as a whole for our nourishment.
Choose wisely!
